Sourcing is an important part of the coffee supply chain as it can have a significant impact on the sustainability of local farms, depending on the trading methods adopted by each dealer. Rather than relying solely on traditional auction systems such as the Nairobi Coffee Exchange, at Golden Ratio we also promote single origin sourcing. This means that via our extensive database, we provide buyers with access to a select pool of farmers who grow their coffee under strict guidelines and adhere to global Fair Trade practices.
By adopting a balanced approach to trading, we are able to source the finest coffee from selected counties in Kenya including Nyeri, Meru, Kiambu and Machakos, either from the farmers directly or on behalf of clients once the coffee has been hulled.

Freshly prepared at our state-of-the art roasting facility, our fully trained in-house baristas are responsible for processing our coffee beans according to four different strengths as pre-specified by the customer: Light Roast, Medium Roast, Dark Roast or Espresso.
Our roasted beans then pass through our rigorous quality assurance phase, known as ‘cupping’, before they are either packaged whole – or finely or coarsely ground and then packaged – using airtight kraft paper to maintain freshness in every scoop.
